Integration Replaces Current Fax-Driven System and Will Benefit Physicians, Patients and Pharmacies by Reducing Costs, Eliminating Errors, and Expediting the Prescription Refill Process
Nanuet, NY, September 30, 2009 -- iMedicor (OTCBB: VMCI) today announced the successful completion of its first direct-to-pharmacy, electronic prescription refill technology pilot project of via its HIPAA compliant information exchange portal.
Following the successful launch, all 225 of the pilot pharmacy's outlets went live, well ahead of the projected schedule. This first project demonstrates iMedicor's prescription refill fulfillment capabilities with the Company's previously announced partner, one of the leading electronic refill processing network services to the retail pharmacy industry.
This free-to-physicians and pharmacies service for members of the iMedicor portal eliminates the current manual process of faxing prescription renewal requests, eliminates errors associated with handwritten prescription forms that are sometimes difficult to decipher and expedites the refill process for patients. The service will greatly enhance iMedicor's ability to serve its growing network of physicians.
The system is expected to expand to one of the largest pharmacy chains in the country in the next quarter.
"The connectivity represented by this program offers physicians an important tool for streamlining their practices, cutting costs to the consumer and bringing them closer to meeting federal guidelines for "meaningful use" as set forth in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009," said Tom Dorsett, President of iMedicor. "We look forward to working with other pharmacies to accelerate access to electronic prescription refill requests for physicians and participating pharmacy chains nationwide."
